HOUSE & MARLOTH PARK RULES
Protect the peace of the bush.
Noise and fire safety are especially important in Marloth Park. Please make sure everyone in your group understands the rules.
Strict no-noise policy
No loud or disturbing noise is permitted at any time. This includes loud music, shouting, screaming, loud conversations, parties or other noise that may disturb neighbours or wildlife.
After 18:00, noise must be kept to an absolute minimum every day of the week.
If the noise rules are not adhered to, guests may be asked to leave the property.
Fire safety
Borakalala has a thatched roof. Please take extreme care with fires, hot coals and cigarettes.
Large or uncontrolled open fires are not permitted. Use only the designated braai/fire area and completely extinguish fires after use.
Do not collect dry branches from the veld for firewood, and never discard cigarette butts on the ground.
Wildlife & park etiquette
- Do not hand-feed animals.
- Keep windows and doors securely closed when leaving.
- No pets.
- Respect speed limits and give wildlife right of way.
- No walking or cycling between 18:00 and 06:00.
- No fireworks, drones, spotlights, quad bikes or off-road driving.
Refuse
- Use only the correct steel refuse cage shown at the house.
- Do not use the neighbour's cage.
- Use black refuse bags only.
- Never leave bags on top of the cage - baboons and monkeys will tear them open.
House care
- Leave furniture, equipment and facilities in the condition received.
- Report breakages, damage or problems as soon as possible.
- Use drying cloths for dishes only.
- Activate the alarm every time you leave the house.
- Parts of the property are accessed by stairs; the access road is gravel.
